About EDMA
The European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association (EDMA) was founded to represent national associations of the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry at European level in 1979. Since then, the activities, profile and strength of the association have constantly increased, as has its membership: EDMA currently represents not only 23 national associations, but also 42 leading companies that reinforce the association’s influence and visibility vis-à-vis the European institutions. Through its national associations, EDMA represents more than 500 companies (and 700 legal entities) that are engaged in the research, development, manufacture or distribution of in vitro diagnostic products in Europe.
In order to monitor EU initiatives and actively contribute to the shaping of European policies on in vitro diagnostics and the overall healthcare industry, EDMA employs a staff of nine in its Brussels-based office that provides administrative, technical and communicative skills to the benefit of the European IVD industry. The team is supported in its work by several Committees and Task Forces which bring together IVD experts from different companies and associations to work together on specific areas of interest to the IVD industry, such as regulatory affairs, public health policies and tendering.
